a) BIOGRAPHY: Entry no 606 on index of Metropolitan & City Police Orphans Fund. This means that he was in the orphanage before the rest of the family, and there is no trace of a widow receiving an allowance for him. It was thought, therefore, that he was a true orphan and adopted by George. This has turned out to be untrue, as his birth certificate (held by Donald) proves his parents were his parents.
