Note:

a) OCCUPATION: On the marriage certificate of Ince Harry (son) his occupation was Metropolitan Police Inspector and he was shown as deceased, not retired.nIn 1839, Addington was attached to Croydon in 'P' division, with 1 constable lodged privately. In 1865, 'W' division was formed and Croydon (including Addington) was transferred to 'W' division. I assume therefore that he was the local bobby!nnDEATH: He died on the 4th March 1885, in service, of PHTHISIS (Wasting Away) & Heart Disease, having served in the Metropolitan Police Force as PC56748 since 21 April 1873. He started his career in 'T' Division (Hammersmith), and ended in 'P' Division (Peckham/Camberwell). Detailed service records have not survived for that period or warrant no., nor have the attestation records. He was a PC at the time of his death.nn1881-Census: Spout Hill, Addington, Surrey
